Registration for Winter 2018 Semester of the Homeschool Education Class at the Creativity Shell Rochester is now open! Register before December 25th and save $100 off registration fees.
The Creativity Shell Rochester is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. Our organization teaches sewing/textile arts and other trades classes to students in public libraries, schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking. Sewing/textile arts classes are designed to educate and inspire children by teaching them essential life and practical skills.
During the 15 Week Spring Semester, students will have the opportunity to learn:
* Sewing/textile arts
* Screen printing
** Knitting NEW
* *Wood working NEW
* * Cooking NEW
* Fabric dyeing
* Quilting
* Soap making/bath bomb making
* Embroidery Arts
* Cosplay/Costuming & More!
Class projects are based on the skill level of the students in the class. We use sewing/textile arts to strenghten fine motor skills, patience and coping before we dive into more difficult projects/arts. This program was designed by Shelancia Daniel, M.Ed. to meet the needs of students who learn well from a Play/Experience Based education perspective. Our classes are also designed to teach students practical skills such as problem solving, coping, decision making, reducing the need for instant gratification and being proud of the things you make!
* Class begins the week of January 8, 2018 and this semester ends April 30, 2018.
* Student in this class will be eligible to participate in our annual Fashion Show “Creativity Rocks” on April 7, 2018.
Monday (Grades 1 – 3): Monday 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Tuesday (Grades 4-6): Tuesday 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Wednesday (Grades 7+):Wednesday 10:00 AM – 11:30AM
Early Price: $185 for 15 Weeks (Regular cost $285)
** Materials and Supplies are included. (From time to time we might ask for recycled bottles or old t-shirts/clothing to up-cycle)
