Freeman Library Embraces Creativity Shell – Will Launch Sewing Program!
In our continuing efforts to use creativity to educate and inspire kids, the Creativity Shell has partnered with Freeman Public Library to launch a sewing/textile arts program in Clear Lake, TX.
The Creativity Shell is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches sewing/textile arts programs at Houston public libraries, public schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking. Our organization provides the sewing machines, fabrics, supplies and certified sewing/textile arts instructors to teach kids.
The sewing/textile arts programs offered by the Creativity Shell are customized and structured based on the individual abilities of the students we are working with. Educational psychology concepts such as learning theories and experienced based learning are used to design each class that we teach. Our programs also teach many life skills such as decision-making, patience, coping, philanthropy and perseverance. These skills are continually reinforced into fun sewing/textile arts projects that children love to make and share with their friends and families.
Students participating in this class will be eligible to participate, compete and win prizes in the organizations annual fashion show Creativity Rocks on April 29th, 2017. Students will also have the opportunity to make a philanthropy project such as blankets for sick children in hospitals with our philanthropy partner Project Linus.
The junior and teens sewing program will begin on January 23, 2017 and will end April 29, 2017. Classes will be held each Monday from 4:30p.m. – 5:30p.m. for the junior class/Grade 3-5 and 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. for the teens class/Grade 6 – 12. This program is offered FREE of charge to students and is a program offered by the Creativity Shell, our partners and our donors.
** Parents, please register your child if they can commit to the 12-week program AND would like to be apart of our annual fashion show on April 29, 2017. Space in this class is limited to 12 students for the junior class and 12 for the teen’s class.
