On Friday, May 1, 2020, the Creativity Shell will be hosting their 5thannual student fashion show/gala Creativity Rocks at the Humble Civic Center. The theme for the show is Africa!
The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. The organization teaches sewing/textile arts and other trades classes to students in our private studios, libraries, schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness, trauma and human trafficking. Classes and events hosted by the Creativity Shell such as the Munchkin Market are designed to educate and inspire children by teaching them essential life and practical skills.
If you have not been to Creativity Rocks, this show is absolutely the most inspirational event of the year! Students modelling in Creativity Rocks design and sew their own outfits based on the theme of the year. Hair and Make-up services are provided by cosmetology students at Lone Star College and every other aspect of being in Creativity Rocks for the student designers/models is to build self-confidence and self-esteem.
Creativity Rocks is also a family friendly event where children are more than welcomed.
With Creativity Rocks – Africa being the Creativity Shell’s 5thshow, the organization is hoping to add new elements to make the show even fun and exciting for students and guest. “Creativity Rocks – Africa is going to be more interactive”, says Shelancia Daniel, Creative Director of the Creativity Shell. “We are expecting a huge turnout and we think are introducing new concepts that will make the audience feel as much a part of the show as the students do.”
One of the new concepts that guests at Creativity Rocks can look forward to is being separated into different Tribes. “We will be launching a personality test for ticket holders. It will help to separate guests into four tribes, water, wind, fire and earth. Each tribe will be asked to wear a specific color to Creativity Rocks!” Says Daniel. “This will be used for fun and games at the show!”
Funds raised from Creativity Rocks will be used to launch the new Creativity Shell Costume Design Center. Funds will also be used to continue teaching sewing/textile classes in low income schools as well as shelters that rescue students from homelessness and human trafficking.
