The Great Kingwood Bake-Off 2023
* Pick up at the EZ Kids Design Center on Thursdays from 4PM – 6PM
Are you ready to bake? The Creativity Shell will be hosting an 8-week virtual/hybrid baking class open to students ages 5 – 17.
How does it work?
- Each week, students will receive a surprise meal kit that contains a recipe and ingredients to create a special baking project.
- Students will receive their kits on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (depending on the pick up location) of each week and will have until the following Tuesday to complete the project and submit a photo of their creation.
- Current Pick up Locations:
- – EZ Kids Design Center 3939 Glade Valley Drive (Thursdays)
- – WIllow Creek Elementary School (Fridays)
- Projects will be uploaded to our Facebook page each Wednesday morning and will be open for voting/likes.
- At the end of the semester, the top 10 bakers will be invited to our annual Gala/Fashion Show – Creativity Rocks; where they will be presented with a new recipe they have not seen before, all the ingredients/supplies needed to bake it and will compete live to bake the item(s).
- Judging will be done by guests at the show and the winners will receive a special trophy, gift cards and more!
- A video with instructions will be uploaded to our website to help students with projects/recipes. An instructor will also be available to help via Zoom on Mondays for students having difficulty and/or to answer questions.
What is this project supporting? The Creativity Shell currently teaches cooking classes to incarcerated youths in the juvenile probation system. Since cooking is not considered an “art”, our organization is unable to obtain funding from arts organizations such a the Houston Arts Alliance, The Texas Commission on the Arts or the National Endowment for the Arts to support this program. With limited funding, we decided that we will use our own creativity to raise funds for this program. Proceeds raised from this Bake-Off will help to support our cooking programs in the Juvenile Probation System and other children in need.

Thursdays: 4PM – 6PM: EZ Kids Design Center – 3939 Glade Valley Drive
Register: Thursday 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Fridays: Dismissal: Willow Creek Elementary School – Open to students enrolled at Willow Creek Elementary School and enrolled in the Bake-Off

Dates: Feb 22, 2023 to Apr 21, 2023. (There will not be any meal kits during the Humble ISD Spring Break week of March 13 – 17, 2023.
Cost: $130 (Cost covers food ingredients, instructions and recipes to bake).
Ages: 5 – 17
