We are so excited to begin another semester at the Creativity Shell. Registration for Fall 2019 classes at the Creativity Shell is OPEN! Please take a moment to read about the classes we will be offering this semester. If your child has taken one of these classes in the past, they will be working on new projects.
Beginning Sewing
This class is great for children (5+) who are learning how to sew and/or are still working on some of the fundamental skills in sewing such as patience, problem solving, decision making and strengthening fine motor skills.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:
– Threading sewing machines.
– Winding bobbins
– Using faster sewing machine stitches.
– Sewing buttons
– Embroidery Stitches and more!
Students in this class will begin the semester working on smaller items and will gradually progress through to larger projects. If your child has taken one of our sewing classes in the past and are still working on fine tuning their stitch, this is a great class for him/her.

Intermediate Sewing
Students in the Intermediate Sewing Class are either students with sewing experience and can cope with working on larger/more complicated sewing projects than the Beginning Sewing Class.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:
– Introduction to the Serger.
– Working on higher speed machines.
– Adding zippers seamlessly to products.
– Learn to sew pockets.
Students in this class will begin the semester working on smaller items and will gradually progress through to larger projects.If your child has taken one of our sewing classes in the past and are still working on fine tuning their stitch, this is a great class for him/her.

Fashion Arts
Our fashion arts class is perfect for students who want to make their own clothes! Students in this class will learn to make new clothing items and accessories and they will also learn to up-cycle clothing and accessories as well.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:
– Working with the Serger.
– Working on higher speed machines.
– Adding zippers and other closures seamlessly to products.
– Fashion History
– Fabric Dyeing/Printing
If your child has taken one of our sewing classes in the past and are ready to continue working on more complicated (but extremely fun) projects, this is a great class for him/her. If your child has sewing experience and wants to learn to make more clothing items, this is also a great class for him/her.

Fashion Design/Drafting
Our fashion design/drafting class will teach children to create from concept to reality. Students will learn design elements, cut out their own items and will be introduced to pattern drafting.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:

– Adding professional finished to products
– Fashion History
If your child has taken one of our sewing classes in the past and are ready to continue working on more complicated (but extremely fun) projects, this is a great class for him/her. If your child has sewing experience and wants to learn to make more clothing items, this is also a great class for him/her.

Teen Sewing
This is a special sewing club for Teens (Middle School and up!) We will be learning, sewing, creating cosplay costumes and accessories. This class will encompass a wide range of disciplines. Sewing will be a major focus, but we will also work on molding, casting, painting special effects, fabric/textile breakdown and more.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:
– Pattern Drafting
– Costume Design
– Adding professional finished to products
– Costume History
If your teen has some sewing experience or wants to learn to make cosplay costumes, this is a great class for him/her.

NEW: Storybook Sewing Club
This class is great for children (5+) and will also be a great class for the boys! Each week we will explore a new storybook and we will be sewing and crafting some of the items and characters in the books we are reading.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:
– Sewing
– Painting
– Textile Art
– Reading
– Conceptualization
– Abstract art
– Character building and more!
Students in this class will be learning to think way way way outside the box!
If your child has taken one of our classes before, this class is a completely new concept that will enhance their creativity!

Industrial Design – Up-cycle Edition
The Industrial design class at the Creativity Shell is for children who love to build. Week after week, students will be challenged to create different building projects by using a variety of different mediums. The focus of this industrial design semester will be up-cycling! Students will learn to use everyday objects to make some cool projects!
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:
– Hammering/Nailing
– Drafting
– Working with electrical circuits
– Glass cutting/Glass Fusing
– Pyrography
– Pottery

Adult Sewing/Art Class
Tuesday nights at the Creativity Shell is a place where adults can socialize and learn to sew at the same time. To add more to the adult sewing program, the Creativity Shell is re-launching it to add more textile arts and other crafts to the program.
Students enrolled in the adult sewing class will learn some of the following:
- Beginning/Intermediate Sewing
- Screen Printing
- Applique
- Fabric Dyeing
- Knitting
- Crocheting & more!
The adult sewing/textile arts and other crafts program begins on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. The semester will last for 15 weeks and will end on Tuesday, January 23, 2019. A makeup class for missed classes will be held on Friday’s from 5:15 – 6:15PM. Registration for the semester is $225 and includes all materials and supplies.

Proceeds from the adult sewing classes are used to support the Creativity Shell’s public programs in local shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking.

Cooking/Baking
Cooking and Baking classes at the Creativity Shell are as much fun as they are tasty! Students in this class will learn many practical and fundamental skills of cooking as well as learn about food and nutrition. Each week we will cook/bake a different recipe and kids are encouraged to keep track of the recipes they create in class to make their own cookbook.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:

– Measurements and units of measurements

– Using the stove

Humble ISD After School Classes
Beginning/Intermediate Sewing – Eagle Springs Elementary School
This class is great for children who are learning how to sew and/or are still working on some of the fundamental skills in sewing such as patience, problem solving, decision making and strengthening fine motor skills. Students enrolled in this class that already have some sewing experience, will be have additional elements such as zippers added to their projects to increase the levels of difficulty.
Some of the skills students in this class will be working on are:

– Working on higher speed machines.
– Adding zippers seamlessly to products.
– Learn to sew pockets.
