To continue their commitment to give back to the community, eliminate inequality and help people in need; Moda Fabrics will be partnering with nonprofit organization the Creativity Shell to Sew Love Bugs to support youth mental health awareness and arts education.

Moda Fabrics has been in the quilting and fabric industry since 1975.  Since the beginning, the company has been striving to be creative leaders on the cutting edge of the industry.  Along with their commitment to providing the best quality and service to the products they sell; the company also believes in giving back to the industry especially to organizations that work to promote arts education.

The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization that teaches classes such as sewing/textile arts, cooking, building and other creative trades to students in their private studios, libraries, schools, ABA therapy centers, the juvenile justice system as well as shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking.  All of their classes are designed to teach children essential life and practical skills.

When Moda Fabrics learned about the Creativity Shell and their commitment to include free mental health therapy to students in their arts education classes, the company was excited to use their resources to help the organization raise money for a great cause.  The Sew a Little Love Bug Mental Health Awareness Campaign was developed as a way to help the sewing world sew products for a great cause and to help children receive a handmade comfort toy to help those struggling with mental health issues, know that someone out there cares.

Sew a Little Love Bug Pattern

To participate in the Sew a Little Love Bug campaign, sewers can purchase a love bug pattern at fabric stores across the country that sell Moda Fabrics https://modafabrics.com/store-locator.  Sewers can also donate to the Creativity Shell using the link above to receive a downloadable pattern with instructions.  Each Love Bug Pattern requires 5 fat quarters and if you purchase a pre-cut AM bundle, you will have enough fabric to make two!

Once Love Bugs are finished, they can be dropped off back at the fabric stores from May 1 – 31, 2021.  Children wanting Love Bugs can pick them up from the stores free of charge.

It has been such a difficult year for children all over the world with schools and activities cancelled because of the COVID pandemic.  Their mental health has been tested and Love Bugs might just become the only Bug they want to catch.  Both Moda Fabrics and the Creativity Shell are hoping to encourage everyone that sews (or wants to learn to sew) across the country to make and donate at least 1 Million Love Bugs during the month of May.

All funds generated from fabric and pattern sales will be donated to the Creativity Shell to help pay for the costs of providing art therapy programs to youths ages 5 – 17 as well as free mental health therapy.
