Creativity Shell Launches Special Summer Sewing Session for Teens!

After receiving numerous requests for teen sewing classes, the Creativity Shell is happy to launch a special summer sewing session designed just for teens (and pre-teens).

If you have not heard about the Creativity Shell, they are anonprofit organization on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. The organization teaches sewing/ textile arts and other home economics classes to students in public libraries, schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking. Their classes are designed to educate and inspire children by teaching them essential life and practical skills.

The teen sewing session begins on June 4th/June 6thand students can choose to sign up for Tuesday and/or Thursday classes.  Classes will be 2-hours in length and will be available for beginner to advanced students.  Different projects will be given to students based on their skills.

Students will be learning to:

  • Sew/use the sewing machine
  • Work with patterns
  • Quilting
  • Different types of stitches, seams and pockets.
  • Use a serger & More

Some of the item’s students will be making are:

  • Pillowcases (sets)
  • Small quilts
  • Clothing items
  • Decorative items such as hampers, laundry baskets & more!

At the end of the semester, students will get the opportunity to invite a few friends to the Creativity Shell to show and teach them some of the skills they have learned.

The teen sewing sessions is going to be a small group (maximum of 6 students/per class) so teens can get more one on one attention as well as the whole Creativity Shell studio to themselves!
