Nonprofit organization, the Creativity Shell has enlisted the help of 20 of their top sewing students (AKA the Creativity Cares Club) to help sew hospital gowns for local hospitals.

The Creativity Shell is a on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers.  The organization teaches sewing/textile arts and other trades classes to students in our private studios, libraries, schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness, trauma and human trafficking. Their classes are designed to educate and inspire children by teaching them essential life and practical skills.

The Creativity Cares club consists of 20 of the most elite Creativity Shell sewing students. Students chosen for this club have been tasked to use the skills they have learned in their classes to give back to the community when in need.  Initially, the Creativity Cares club was designed for students to sew items for the elderly, homeless families, students living in shelters as well as Veterans. With the current COVID-19 pandemic however, students will be using their skills to sew hospital gowns for local hospitals.

Fabrics for the hospital gown sewing project was generously donated by Moda Fabrics. “This is fantastic” says Lissa Alexander from Moda Fabrics. Upon finding out about the project Alexander and her team at Moda sent out the fabrics immediately.

Finished hospital gowns will be donated to local hospitals and gowns will be made for patients affected by COVID-19 in Houston.
